A Country Without Amazon … by Darla Luke

On a loop I belong to, there was a huge hue and cry about a woman in Denmark who had her Amazon account closed and Kindle e-books confiscated.

Now, before your head blows up about how mean and cruel Amazon is, here’s what I learned: Denmark’s government (for whatever reason) has made it illegal to buy from Amazon. Now, since I don’t know the particulars, I won’t try bore you with made up facts …

But – can you imagine not being able to buy from one of the largest e-book retailers available on the internet? I can’t. Although I get my e-books primarily from Barnes & Noble (because I own a Nook), there are some e-books available only through Amazon through the Select program. Which is sad, really.

Here are the books that reached the USA Today Top 150 Best-Selling Books list through the week ending Sunday 10-21-12*:

Down to You by M. Leighton (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #23 (last week #17) $3.99

Love Left Behind by S.H. Kolee (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #39 (last week #35 – evidently, I missed this one!) $3.99

The Perfect Game by J. Sterling (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #40 (last week, not on the list) $3.99

On Dublin Street by Samantha Young (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #54 (last week #38) $3.99

The Secret of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #84 (last week, not on the list) $0.99

My Favorite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #90 (last week, not on the list) $3.99

The Wild Ones by M. Leighton (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #97 (last week, not on the list) $2.99

The Bride Wore Chocolate by Shirley Jump (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #106 (last week, not on the list) $2.99

White Trash Beautiful by Teresa Mummert (Self-published via Amazon Digital Services). This week #121 (last week #95) $2.99

*I’m human and make mistakes (a shock to my friends, I’m sure!). If there’s a book on this week’s list that I missed, please let me know. If I misspelled/mistyped an author’s name or book title, I’m extremely sorry.

About Darla Luke

Darla Luke spent her childhood making up stories in her head, when she wasn't devouring every book she could get her hands on. If someone would have told her she'd be a writer when she grew up, she would have laughed herself silly. Now, writing is her passion, and she loves telling stories (especially ghost stories) and believes they all should have a happy ending.
